Below are answers to some of the most common questions about UK Match Fishing League. If you don’t see your question here, please get in touch.

Can I score points at any match in the UK?

No. League points can only be scored at contributing venues or in matches run by contributing organisers.

Do I have to travel to compete?

No. Anglers may compete locally or travel at their discretion. The league does not require or discourage travel.

Is this league only for elite or sponsored anglers?

No. The league is designed so local matches, and midweek matches count fully. Consistency over time matters more than status or one-off results.

Do matches need to change how they are run?

No. Matches continue exactly as normal. The league does not interfere with how organisers or venues operate.

What if my local venue or organiser isn’t contributing?

Venues and organisers can join at any time. Once they contribute, matches held at that venue or run by that organiser become eligible for league points.

How are prizes funded?

Prize money is funded by contributions from venues, organisers, manufacturers, and sponsors and is kept separate from league operating costs.

How many matches do I need to fish?

There is no minimum. The league runs for 52 weeks, with your best 46 weekly results counting. This allows flexibility and time off without penalty. The more matches you fish, the more chance you have of posting your best results.

Are only weekend matches eligible for points scoring?

Any match, on any day is eligible for points scoring, Providing the venue, or organiser has contributed to the prize fund.
