Welcome To The New UK Match Fishing League

This is a new national, points-based league set up by anglers, for anglers.

Between us, we’ve fished across all levels of match angling — from club matches and local opens to Nationals, winter leagues, and big-money qualifiers.

Along the way, it’s become clear that while match angling is a close and connected community, there is a gap between different levels of the sport. Elite anglers are followed closely through results, blogs, and instructional content, yet there has never been a simple way for committed anglers at every level to compete on equal terms.

We believe the time is right for a league that brings the UK match angling scene together — allowing anglers to compete locally or travel by choice, without changing how matches are run.

By encouraging participation and consistency, we believe this league can support the future of angling and the wider angling industry as a whole.

The prize fund will be supported by the people behind angling — for the future of angling.

“We didn’t want to reinvent match angling. We wanted to recognise it — properly, nationally, and fairly — in a way that works for every committed angler.”

— Founders, UK Match Fishing League

Fish Local. Rank Nationally.

Anglers may compete locally or travel to larger matches at their discretion. The league does not require or discourage travel.

League points can only be scored at contributing venues or in matches run by contributing organisers.

What is UK Match Fishing League?

UK Fishing League is a national match angling league built on the matches anglers already fish. There are no qualifiers and no compulsory events. We simply recognise results nationally through a fair, transparent points system — at contributing venues and through contributing organisers.

  • Fish locally or travel — your choice
  • Best 46 weeks from 52 count
  • Monthly and annual cash prizes

Why contribute as a venue or organiser?

Contributing venues and organisers unlock league points. This means anglers who want to compete nationally will actively seek out eligible venues and matches.

  • Increased footfall and repeat visits
  • Incentives for winter participation
  • National visibility as a contributing venue
  • No changes to how you currently run matches

Ring-fenced prize fund

All contributions from fisheries, organisers and sponsors go into a separate prize fund account and are not used for operating costs. Prize money is paid out monthly and annually.

Want your venue or organisation to be eligible?

If your venue or organisation contributes to the prize fund, matches held at your venue — or run by your organisation — can become eligible for league points.
